About Diocese of Allentown
The Diocese of Allentown, established in 1961 by Pope John XXIII, serves more than 205,000 registered Catholics across five Pennsylvania counties: Berks, Carbon, Lehigh, Northampton, and Schuylkill. As a Roman Catholic family of faith centered in the Holy Eucharist, the diocese comprises 78 parishes and operates under the leadership of Bishop Alfred A. Schlert, the first priest ordained for the Diocese of Allentown to be appointed its bishop. The diocese offers comprehensive spiritual formation, sacramental preparation, youth ministries through the Catholic Youth Organization and Scouting programs, marriage preparation, and outreach services through Catholic Charities. Visitors and prospective members are invited to explore the diocese's parishes, faith formation resources, and community events designed to bring the light of Christ to the region.
