About Sisters Of Saint Joseph
The Sisters of Saint Joseph of Philadelphia is a Catholic congregation of more than 500 sisters with roots tracing to 17th-century France and a presence in Baden, Pennsylvania. Founded on the principle of unioning love and addressing urgent challenges facing the church and world, the sisters have ministered in hospitals, schools, orphanages, and community services since arriving in Philadelphia in 1847. Guided by their charism of spiritual and corporal works of mercy, they serve the poor, marginalized, and vulnerable across twelve states. The congregation welcomes associates in mission—both women and men who commit to their common mission of uniting all people with God and one another while maintaining their own lifestyles.
