The congregation traces its roots to Rev. Johann Michael Enderlein, a missionary pastor who responded to the call of the famous 'Father of American Lutheranism,' Rev. Henry Melchior Muhlenberg. The present brick building, constructed in 1876 in Colonial style, stands on the same hilltop where the congregation has gathered for over two centuries. Today, St. John's serves approximately 400 baptized members and is part of the larger Lutheran family through the Lower Susquehanna Synod and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
