The church traces its origins to 1922 as a Sunday school and was formally organized in 1932, with its current sanctuary first used for worship on Palm Sunday, April 10, 1949. The welcoming community has undergone significant renovations over the decades, including a complete remodeling of the sanctuary and narthex in 2022 as the congregation looks toward future growth. Led by Pastor Kathleen Schoeneck, Lakewood emphasizes real connections, growing faith, and serving others through diverse ministries that benefit both the church and wider community. Visitor Tips: Designated visitor parking is available on West 10th Street, with additional parking across the street near Lakewood Park, on Chelsea Avenue, and in the northern lot behind the church; the building is ADA accessible via glass doors on Chelsea Avenue under the portico, and transportation is available upon request.
