About Sister Mercy
The Sisters of Mercy in Erie, Pennsylvania are part of an international Catholic community dedicated to serving those in poverty, sickness, and lack of education. Founded on the Gospel of Jesus and the legacy of Catherine McAuley, the sisters take vows of poverty, chastity, obedience, and service—with their distinctive fourth vow of service setting them apart. The community engages in ministries across multiple continents, focusing on five critical concerns: care for the Earth, immigration, nonviolence, addressing racism, and advocating for women and children's rights. Through prayer, spiritual direction, retreat centers, and direct service to marginalized communities, they work toward building a more just and inclusive world. Visitors are welcome to join in their spiritual resources, prayers, and community of faith committed to embodying God's mercy.
