Built beginning in 1888 as a memorial to Civil War soldiers and a symbol of peace and reconciliation, the church features a distinctive gray stone edifice with red doors and a bell tower. Today, Prince of Peace welcomes all to worship and serves as an active community hub, operating the Gettysburg Community Soup Kitchen and engaging in numerous outreach ministries.
