About Lower Susquehanna Synod

The Lower Susquehanna Synod is a regional body of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) serving over 217 congregations and worshiping communities across central Pennsylvania, with more than 61,000 baptized members. Based in Harrisburg, the synod became a Reconciling in Christ organization in 2016, publicly welcoming all people regardless of race, culture, sexual orientation, gender identity, or relationship status. The synod's mission centers on sharing the Gospel, serving neighbors, raising up leaders, and participating in God's mission through equipping congregations for vitality, supporting pastors and deacons, advocating for justice, and building ecumenical and global partnerships. Worship stands at the heart of their faith life, gathering communities around God's word, water, bread, and prayer. The synod invites all seeking God's love and grace to join their diverse communities throughout the region.
