St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Harrisburg is home to a vibrant community dedicated to the Traditional Latin Mass, also known as the Extraordinary Form or Mass of the Ages. The parish traces its roots to the mid-nineteenth century German-American population of south-central Pennsylvania, and the current church building on State Street was consecrated in 1918. In 2007, following Pope Benedict XVI's motu proprio Summorum Pontificum, the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter (FSSP)—a community of priests established by Pope John Paul II in 1988—was invited to provide pastoral care at St. Lawrence, establishing it as a canonically stable home for the Latin Mass. The FSSP's mission centers on both the sanctification of the priests and the spiritual nourishment of the faithful who gather to worship using the traditional Roman Rite. The parish offers daily Mass throughout the week, with an extensive Sunday schedule including Lauds, Rosary, Low Masses, and High Mass with traditional liturgical blessings, alongside educational programs such as CCD and youth groups.
