About First Reformed Church
First Reformed Church is an Open and Affirming congregation of the United Church of Christ located in downtown Lancaster, Pennsylvania, with roots tracing back to 1729 and its first building constructed in 1736 by German, Swiss, and French settlers. The congregation describes itself as theologically progressive, ecologically friendly, and sociologically outgoing, committed to putting the city first in its ministry. The church serves over 16,000 free meals annually through its campus, partners with other churches in the Lancaster County Meal Program to provide meals seven days a week year-round, and hosts six 12-step programs weekly for those overcoming addiction. Visitors can expect a warmly welcoming community that is intentionally and unconditionally inclusive of all people regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, or background, with worship that includes hymns, scripture readings, sermons, choir anthems, and organ music in a recently air-conditioned sanctuary.
