About Church Of The Resurrection Parish
Church of the Resurrection is a Byzantine Catholic parish serving the eastern suburbs of Pittsburgh since its establishment in 1969. Founded by Archbishop Stephen Kocisko to meet the spiritual needs of the growing Byzantine Catholic community, the parish completed its permanent home on Center Road in Monroeville in 1971. The congregation has developed a rich parish life centered on the Divine Liturgy, supported by active ministries including the Ladies Guild of the Theotokos, a youth organization, and catechetical programs. The church interior features beautiful Byzantine tradition elements, including icons, chandeliers, and a set of cast iron bells imported from Russia. Beyond worship, parishioners engage in community service through an annual fish fry during Lent and an Ethnic Food Festival each June, reflecting the parish's commitment to both spiritual growth and outreach.
