St. George Coptic Orthodox Church, located in Norristown, Pennsylvania, was established in 1969 as the fourth Coptic Orthodox Church in America. Beginning with just 30 to 50 families, the congregation has grown to serve many families throughout the Greater Philadelphia metropolitan area. The church maintains the ancient traditions and teachings of the Coptic Orthodox faith, which traces its roots to St. Mark the Apostle's work in Egypt. Beyond the main sanctuary in Norristown, the church operates a center in South Philadelphia that hosts weekly meetings and bi-weekly Saturday services. The community recently acquired additional property in Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania to further expand its ministry and outreach.
