About Pittsburgh District UMC
The Pittsburgh District of the United Methodist Church serves as a vital connection between the worldwide Methodist denomination and approximately 400 local congregations across 23 counties in Western Pennsylvania. Under the leadership of Bishop Sandra Steiner Ball, the district is part of the Western PA Conference, which has recently reorganized its structure to better serve its communities through four supervisory areas. The Methodist presence in this region is rooted in the Wesleyan heritage of spreading scriptural holiness and making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. The conference emphasizes love as its core value, demonstrating this through integrity, accountability, and inclusiveness in its ministries. The district actively engages in mission work, disaster response, and community partnerships throughout the region, inviting all people to join in this work of spiritual growth and service.
