About Saint John Ukranian Catholic Church
St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, established in 1891, is the oldest Ukrainian Catholic Church in Pittsburgh and remains an active spiritual community rooted in Eastern Christian tradition. Located on the Southside, the parish welcomes visitors seeking a spiritual home grounded in the fullness of Holy Tradition, liturgical life, and authentic Ukrainian Catholic customs. Led by Father Yaroslav Koval, the church serves its community through Divine Liturgy and various ministries, including its well-known pyrohy kitchen. The parish is currently undertaking a major restoration project supported by a $200,000 grant from the National Fund for Sacred Places, aimed at repairing the church's distinctive golden dome. Everyone is welcome to explore whether St. John's might be their spiritual home, and visitors are encouraged to speak with the pastor or contact the church office to learn more.
