About Sgi-Usa
The SGI-USA Pittsburgh community is part of the most diverse Buddhist community in the United States, practicing Nichiren Buddhism centered on respect for the dignity of human life. Members engage in daily chanting practice at home and gather monthly for neighborhood discussion meetings where they study Buddhist principles and share experiences of applying Buddhism to life's challenges. The organization emphasizes Buddhist humanism, human dignity, and peace activism, drawing on 3,000 years of Buddhist wisdom to address contemporary life issues. As part of a global network of over 11 million practitioners across 192 countries, the Pittsburgh group participates in dialogue, nonviolence, and community-based activities rooted in the belief that individual happiness and world peace are interconnected.
