Founded in 1870 when Mother Aloysia Lowe led five sisters from Cincinnati to Altoona, Pennsylvania, the congregation established its permanent home in Greensburg and has grown to serve across twelve states, South Korea, and Ecuador. The Sisters are known for their commitment to education, healthcare, and social services, operating schools, hospitals, and community programs guided by Gospel values and devoted especially to the poor and oppressed. Their ministry is animated by prayer, rooted in faith, and performed in humility, simplicity, and charity.
