About One United Church of Christ
One United Church of Christ in Reading, Pennsylvania is a congregation rooted in both deep local history and the ecumenical tradition of the United Church of Christ denomination. The church was formed in 2004 through the merger of St. Luke's and St. Stephen's UCC, bringing together decades of faithful ministry. St. Stephen's traced its origins to the mid-1800s in Reading, while St. Luke's itself represented a uniting of multiple congregations dating back to the early 1950s. The congregation welcomes people of all ages and spiritual backgrounds, recognizing that individuals are at different places in their faith journeys. Services are held on Sunday mornings both in person and online, creating opportunities for worship, learning about God and scripture, and building relationships while serving the wider community.
