About St. Peter's Cathedral
St. Peter’s Cathedral is the cathedral church for the Diocese of Scranton and has served the faithful in Scranton since 1853. Its worship is centered on Catholic liturgy, with Mass offered throughout the week, including early morning and midday weekday Masses and a Saturday evening Vigil Mass. Daily Mass is broadcast Monday through Friday by Catholic Television of the Diocese of Scranton. The cathedral also serves diocesan life by hosting more than 50 Pontifical Masses each year celebrated by Bishop Joseph C. Bambera. On the first Wednesday of each month, the rosary for the cause of Venerable Father Patrick Peyton is prayed after the 12:10 PM Mass.
