About St Basil Byzantine Catholic
St. Basil Byzantine Catholic Community is a relatively young parish established in State College in 2005, making it the first new Byzantine Catholic community formed in Pennsylvania in thirty years. The community celebrates the rich liturgical traditions of the Byzantine Catholic Church, which maintains apostolic succession and ancient Eastern Christian practices while maintaining communion with Rome. Worship services are held twice monthly on Saturday evenings at the University Mennonite Church, providing an accessible location for Penn State students, faculty, and local residents. The parish fosters fellowship, education, and prayer among its members, and maintains an active choir that practices monthly. Led by Fr. James Ragan, St. Basil welcomes visitors to experience the solemn beauty and spiritual depth of the Divine Liturgy.
