About Christ Lutheran Church
Christ Lutheran Church is the oldest Lutheran congregation west of the Susquehanna River, having been founded in 1733 by Pastor John Casper Stoever and 24 families in York, Pennsylvania. Located in downtown York on the corner of George and Market Street, the church occupies a historic building completed in 1812 that reflects nearly three centuries of community presence and worship. The congregation is grounded in Holy Baptism and centers its life and ministry in the weekly liturgy of Word and Sacrament, welcoming all to its table. Christ Lutheran is an active member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and reflects its mission to connect people to Christ while serving the people of York and the world.
