About First Congregational Church

The First Congregational Church in Bristol is a vital, progressive Christian community with deep historical roots, having been founded in 1680 as Bristol's first church and serving as the birthplace of America's oldest Fourth of July celebration in 1785. Today, the congregation is known for its broad support of the community, willingness to address social justice issues, and relevant, thought-provoking Sunday services led by Rev. Nancy H. Soukup. As an Open and Affirming congregation of the United Church of Christ, FCC Bristol welcomes all people regardless of sexual orientation, race, gender identity, or life circumstances into full participation in the church's life and ministry. The church offers a vibrant Sunday School program for children from infancy through high school, a nursery for infants and toddlers, and numerous community-focused ministries including outreach to those experiencing domestic violence and hospital visits to children. Visitors will find a warm welcome in a historic sanctuary on High Street, where both in-person and live-streamed worship services are available.
