About Columbia Zen Buddhist Priory
The Columbia Zen Buddhist Priory is a branch temple and meditation center of the Order of Buddhist Contemplatives, an international organization founded by the late Rev. Master Jiyu-Kennett. Located in Columbia, South Carolina, the Priory is dedicated to the tradition of Serene Reflection Meditation, which emphasizes silent meditation, mindfulness in daily life, and the moral Precepts of Buddhism. With a Buddhist monk in residence, the temple offers instruction, guidance, and support for meditation practice, as well as a weekly schedule of meditative services and Dharma discussions. The Priory welcomes newcomers and asks those new to the Order to attend an orientation before participating in other activities. The community invites anyone interested in Buddhist practice to reach out and learn how the Priory may support their spiritual journey.
