About Progressive Church
The Progressive Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ, Inc. in Florence, South Carolina is part of a national Apostolic denomination with deep roots tracing back to the Day of Pentecost. Founded in 1944 by Bishop Joseph D. Williams, Sr. in Columbia, the church has grown from a small prayer meeting into a network of congregations across the Southeast and beyond. The Progressive Church is committed to preaching and teaching Apostolic doctrine without compromise, emphasizing water baptism by immersion in the name of Jesus Christ, the reception of the Holy Ghost evidenced by speaking in other tongues, and living a holy and sanctified life.
