About Temple Emanu-El
Temple Emanu-El is a Conservative Jewish congregation located in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and serves as the only Conservative synagogue on the Grand Strand. Founded in 1963 by inspired Jewish citizens, the congregation has grown alongside the region and now offers a broad spectrum of Jewish life through religious services, educational programs, and community activities. Led by Rabbi Avi Perets, the temple welcomes an inclusive and egalitarian community that embraces Jewish persons from all backgrounds, including previously unaffiliated Jews and non-Jewish spouses of members. The congregation follows Conservative prayer traditions while maintaining a warm and enriching environment for worship and study. Services include Shabbat and festival observances, High Holy Day services with no ticket requirement, and educational opportunities for both children and adults. The temple features the Rosen Education Center, which hosts religious school, adult classes in Modern Hebrew and Judaica, and a variety of community events and celebrations throughout the year.
