About St Thomas The Apostle Catholic Church
St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in North Charleston is a vibrant, multi-cultural parish with deep roots in the community since its founding in 1966. The parish emerged from a vision to serve the growing area west of Charleston and has evolved into a thriving spiritual community that celebrates its diversity through liturgies in English, Spanish, and Vietnamese. Over the decades, the church has undergone significant renovations and expansions, including a major sanctuary renovation completed in 2014, reflecting the community's commitment to creating a welcoming worship space. The parish is known for its strong emphasis on ministries, religious education, and youth formation, and has become particularly vibrant in its Hispanic community, which represents the fastest-growing segment of the congregation. Rooted in Catholic tradition and Vatican II principles, St. Thomas strives to live out its mission of knowing, loving, and serving God while becoming the visible presence of Christ in the world.
