About Holy Spirit Catholic Church
Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Mitchell, South Dakota is part of a vibrant two-parish Catholic community alongside Holy Family Church. Founded in 1962 with its first Mass in June 1963, Holy Spirit has grown from a small group of four hundred families into an established parish serving the western part of Mitchell. The parish operates under the spiritual guidance of Pro Ecclesia Sancta, a consecrated community devoted to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the promotion of holiness throughout the Church. The contemporary church building, dedicated on Pentecost Sunday 1977, stands at 1401 West Cedar and includes an adjacent adoration chapel, parish hall, and rectory. The parish celebrates the sacraments, forms disciples of all ages, fosters community, and serves those in need through various active ministries and opportunities for involvement.
