About Black Hills State University Newman Center
The Black Hills State University Newman Center is a Catholic ministry serving students and faculty of Black Hills State University in Spearfish, South Dakota. The center's mission is to bring the university community to Jesus Christ through the Gospel and full participation in the life of the Church, while helping students develop as faithful disciples prepared for Christian mission in the world. The Newman Center provides a welcoming space for spiritual growth, prayer, fellowship, and service, with support from pastors, missionaries, and advisors who help students integrate their Catholic faith into their college experience. Through JacketCatholic, a student organization open to both Catholic and non-Catholic students as well as faculty and staff, the center offers opportunities for spiritual and social development. The community emphasizes creating a family atmosphere where students can find room for Christ amid the demands of campus life.
