About Children First
Children First is a preschool and childcare ministry of the Spearfish United Methodist Church, established in 2008 to serve the community's need for quality early childhood education. Located in Spearfish, South Dakota, the program operates from the United Methodist Community Outreach Center, the historic former Central School building on the church campus. Children First serves infants through preschool-age children in a secure and loving environment that promotes learning through all the senses and supports individual development. The ministry is governed by a dedicated board of directors and staffed by a team of 27 committed professionals. As a financially independent ministry of the church, Children First reflects the Methodist tradition of community service and compassionate care for children and families.
