About Baptist World Missionary Outreach
Baptist World Missionary Outreach Ministries is a missionary-focused Baptist organization based in Chattanooga, Tennessee, with a mission to serve local churches and missionaries worldwide. Since its humble beginnings in the home of Jack and Sandra Reiss in 1981, BWMOM has grown to support missionaries across numerous countries including Brazil, Mexico, the Philippines, Thailand, Moldova, and many others. The organization operates on the principle that the local New Testament church holds primary authority, and it exists to equip and support missionaries rather than to direct them. BWMOM publishes the Sh'ma Shofar quarterly magazine, conducts mission conferences, and handles support services including prayer letters, health insurance guidance, and retirement planning for missionaries. The ministry emphasizes Bible teaching, church planting, evangelism, literature distribution, and outreach through orphanages and prison ministries.
