About Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church
Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Chattanooga traces its roots to a small prayer group that began meeting in 1915. It was formally organized in 1917 as Sunrise Union under Rev. McClain, and later became known as Union Grove and was officially organized as a Missionary Baptist Church during the pastorate of Rev. Fuller. The congregation moved to its present Highland Avenue location in 1955. After a fire badly damaged the church in 1970, services were temporarily held at Alton Park Junior High School. Rev. Glenn Philip Taylor has served as pastor since October 2008. The church offers small groups as part of its congregational life.
