About First Baptist Church
First Baptist Church in Dayton, Tennessee was established in 1888 and has served the community for over 135 years. The church began in the Gardenhire Opera House before relocating to its current site in 1897. After a devastating fire in 1970 destroyed the original building, the congregation rebuilt and opened their new sanctuary in 1972, followed by the addition of The Faith Center in 2001, which doubled their ministry space. Under the pastoral leadership of Pastor Bob Schafer, First Baptist Church offers a range of ministries including Sunday School, worship services, Bible study, and youth programs. The church emphasizes spiritual renewal and invites visitors to experience their welcoming Baptist community.
