About St. Patrick's Church
St. Patrick's Church in McEwen, Tennessee is a historic Catholic parish deeply rooted in community tradition, dating back to 1854 when it was founded to raise funds for a church bell. The parish remains vibrant through its connection to St. Patrick's School and its sponsorship of the renowned St. Patrick's Irish Picnic and Homecoming, an annual two-day event held in late July that draws over 20,000 visitors from across the country and beyond. Known for exceptional barbecue, live bluegrass music, dancing, games, and family-friendly festivities, the church embodies the Irish greeting of 'Cead Mile Failte'—One Hundred Thousand Welcomes—reflecting its commitment to hospitality and community. All proceeds from the Irish Picnic benefit St. Patrick's School, making this celebration both a homecoming for former residents and a significant fundraiser for the local educational mission. Visitors are invited to experience this longstanding tradition of faith, food, and fellowship.
