About Smyrna Church Of Christ
Smyrna Church of Christ, organized in 1837, is believed to be one of the first congregations of the Lord's church in Warren County, Tennessee. The congregation was established at the McGregor School House by elders John Myers and Isaac Jones, who committed to worshipping according to the direction of the Holy Bible and restoring Christianity to its original purity. The church has maintained a strong presence in the McMinnville community for nearly two centuries, with the current brick building constructed in 1950 and subsequently remodeled and improved to better serve the congregation. Throughout its history, many prominent preachers in the church of Christ tradition have ministered at Smyrna, and the congregation has been guided by a commitment to scripture as the basis of authority in Bible classes and preaching. Annual gospel meetings have been held consistently since 1869, beginning on the first Sunday in August. The congregation continues to serve as a light to the community, maintaining its mission of fellowship and biblical faithfulness.
