About Centenary Methodist Church
Centenary United Methodist Church, founded in 1772 and inspired by the preaching of Rev. Joseph Pilmore, stands in the heart of historic downtown New Bern, North Carolina. The congregation worships in a sanctuary completed in 1904 and renovated in 1966 and 2013. Centenary offers three Sunday worship services—a traditional service at 8:30 a.m. in the Chapel, a contemporary service at 9:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary, and a traditional service at 11:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary—welcoming visitors to experience Christ's love through music, fellowship, and scriptural teaching. The church maintains an active community life with ministries including United Methodist Women, United Methodist Men, GriefShare support groups, youth programs for grades 6-12, and monthly community meals. Visitors are invited to join the church family and discover a warm, inclusive congregation committed to experiencing, growing in, and sharing Christ's love.
