About Zion Baptist Church
Mount Zion Baptist Church is one of Nashville's oldest congregations, organized in 1866 just three years after the Emancipation Proclamation. Founded by Reverend Jordan Bransford and a group of inspired worshippers, the church has grown from its historic Jefferson Street location to a multi-campus ministry serving several thousand members. Under the leadership of Bishop Joseph W. Walker III since 1992, Mount Zion has expanded to include a state-of-the-art ministry complex and multiple locations throughout Nashville and surrounding areas. The church describes itself as a Word-centered, multi-ethnic, multi-cultural ministry committed to evangelizing the lost, equipping believers, and providing holistic ministry to the community and world. Services are designed to be welcoming and worship-centered, grounded in Bible-based teaching that speaks to everyday life, with opportunities for prayer, dynamic worship, and practical spiritual growth.
