About Mount Zion Baptist Church
Mount Zion Baptist Church is one of the oldest churches in Nashville, Tennessee, organized in 1866 just three years after the Emancipation Proclamation. Founded by Reverend Jordan Bransford and inspired worshippers, the church has grown from its original Jefferson Street location to a multi-campus ministry led by Bishop Joseph W. Walker, III since 1992. The church describes itself as a Word-centered, multi-ethnic, multi-cultural ministry committed to evangelizing the lost, equipping believers, and serving the community with holistic ministry. Mount Zion emphasizes worship in spirit and truth with freedom of expression, grounded in the authority of Scripture. The congregation now numbers in the thousands across multiple locations, including campuses in Brentwood, Jefferson Street, Antioch, and Old Hickory, with services offered at various times throughout the week.
