About Mt Zion Baptist Church
Mt. Zion Baptist Church, organized in 1866 just three years after the Emancipation Proclamation, stands as one of Nashville's oldest churches with a rich legacy of spiritual leadership and community service. Led by Bishop Joseph W. Walker III since 1992, the church has grown from 175 members to several thousand, expanding to multiple campuses across the Nashville area including locations in Brentwood, Jefferson Street, Antioch, and Old Hickory. The ministry emphasizes word-centered teaching, multi-ethnic and multi-cultural worship, and holistic community engagement through various ministries including evangelism, prayer, small groups, and discipleship. Bishop Walker's vision has resulted in the completion of a state-of-the-art ministry complex and multiple facilities designed to serve the growing congregation. Mt. Zion remains committed to worshipping God in spirit and truth while addressing the spiritual and practical needs of the broader Nashville community and beyond.
