About Mt Zion Missionary Baptist Church
Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church is one of Nashville's oldest congregations, founded in 1866 just three years after the Emancipation Proclamation by Reverend Jordan Bransford and inspired worshippers. The church has grown significantly under the leadership of Bishop Joseph W. Walker III, expanding from 175 members at his arrival in 1992 to several thousand today, now operating multiple campuses across the Nashville area. Mt. Zion describes itself as a Word-centered, multi-ethnic ministry committed to evangelizing the lost, equipping believers, and providing holistic community service locally and globally. The church emphasizes worship in spirit and truth, embracing freedom in worship and grounding all teaching in Scripture. Services are designed to be welcoming and worship-centered, featuring intentional prayer, dynamic worship, and practical Bible-based messages that speak to everyday life.
