About St John M.B. Church
St. John M.B. Church is a Baptist congregation in Stanton with roots in a community that began meeting in a bush arbor in the late 1800s to early 1900s. Its early history includes Rev. Morgan Holloway serving as pastor in 1916, and the original church building was erected on land given by Deacon Charlie Wilkerson. The church’s story also includes the loss of its sanctuary to fire on September 20, 2006. Pastor Johnny W. Shaw welcomes visitors, and the church continues to gather for prayer, worship, Sunday School, and midweek Bible study.
