About First Baptist Church
First Baptist Church in Sweetwater, Tennessee is a welcoming Baptist congregation with deep roots in the community, having served the Sweetwater Valley since 1820. Led by Pastor Jason Pounds and his family, the church describes itself as a place where imperfect people gather to walk in the grace of Jesus, worship in the power of the Holy Spirit, and love others as Christ loves us. The church offers comprehensive ministries across all age groups, including Sunday school and worship services, children's programs for infants through sixth grade, youth ministry for seventh through twelfth grade, and senior ministry for those 60 and older. The congregation is centered on historic Baptist teachings regarding salvation through faith in Jesus Christ, the authority of Scripture, and believer's baptism. With a newly renovated sanctuary featuring beautiful stained glass windows installed in 2007, First Baptist Church invites visitors to experience their vibrant community of faith.
