Bar Church is a nontraditional Christian community in Abilene, Texas that welcomes people from all backgrounds to experience friendship, acceptance, and the grace of Jesus in a relaxed, non-threatening setting. The church was born from the conviction that many people are interested in faith but feel alienated by institutional religion, so Bar Church deliberately meets outside a traditional church building. Currently gathering at the Freedom Fellowship building at 941 Chestnut Street, the church invites sincere and imperfect people to participate in prayer, music, Bible messages, communion, and genuine community. Bar Church is supported by Southern Hills Church of Christ and maintains a welcoming posture toward anyone curious about connecting with God, regardless of where they are in their spiritual journey.
