About Rosewood Baptist Church
Rosewood Avenue Baptist Church, located in Austin, Texas, was organized on August 1, 1945, as a faithful response to divine vision. Founded by Reverend L.J. Griffin with twenty-six members, the church moved to its current location on April 18, 1948, marking a milestone celebration as the congregation marched from the Community Center singing hymns of praise. Under the current leadership of Reverend Coby Shorter III, Rosewood has experienced tremendous growth and prosperity over twenty-five years, becoming recognized for its ministry locally, statewide, and nationally. The church is committed to its theme of "Divine Empowerment for Bold Ministries," actively planning and implementing new ministries and community outreach. Visitors are warmly invited to experience the empowerment of God at work in this historic fellowship, known affectionately as "The Wood in the Hood."
