Since its formation in 1945 through the merger of the Pentecostal Church Incorporated and the Pentecostal Assemblies of Jesus Christ, the UPCI has grown to encompass more than 45,000 churches and nearly 6.2 million constituents worldwide. The denomination is rooted in the Pentecostal movement that began with a Bible school in Topeka, Kansas in 1901 and the Azusa Street Revival in Los Angeles in 1906.
