Founded in 1945 through the merger of the Pentecostal Church Incorporated and the Pentecostal Assemblies of Jesus Christ, the UPCI has grown from 521 churches to more than 45,000 churches worldwide with nearly 6.2 million constituents. The denomination is rooted in the Pentecostal movement that emerged from the Azusa Street Revival in Los Angeles in 1906 and emphasizes the oneness of God, water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ, the new birth experience, passionate worship, and living an overcoming, holy life.
