About Moody Mansion
Moody Mansion is a historic house museum located in Galveston, Texas, occupying a restored 28,000-square-foot, four-story mansion completed in 1895. The home has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1994 and serves as a Recorded Texas Historical Landmark since 1967. Visitors can explore 20 rooms depicting the life of the prominent Moody family, who built one of America's great financial empires based on cotton, banking, ranching, insurance, publishing, railroading, and hotels. The mansion was designed by British architect William H. Tyndall and decorated by the renowned New York firm Pottier & Stymus. Today, guests tour rooms filled with family furnishings and personal effects while learning about the family's significant philanthropic legacy in health care, education, historic preservation, and the arts.
