About Houstons First Deaf Church
Houston’s First Deaf Church is a Baptist congregation in Houston where ASL and Deaf culture are central to worship and church life. The church changed its name from Woodhaven Baptist Deaf Church in 2022 and continues to focus its services around the Deaf community, with worship shaped by the language and culture it cherishes. Worship services are sometimes voice interpreted for family members who do not know ASL when interpreters are available. The church offers children’s ministry and small groups, and children under age 8 are dismissed to the children’s wing during the worship service. Pastor Joshua Bruffey serves the congregation.
