About Second Mile Mission Center
Second Mile Mission Center is a Christian nonprofit organization serving neighbors in material poverty and crisis throughout Fort Bend County. Founded in 1990 by a group of concerned community members, the organization has grown from distributing food collected in a church closet to operating a comprehensive ministry that provides nutritious meals, affordable clothing, spiritual care, and life-empowering education classes. Located in Missouri City, Second Mile operates with remarkable efficiency, directing 97.7 cents of every dollar directly into programs that help families access food through pantries and community food fairs, purchase quality clothing at affordable prices through The Opportunity Shop resale store, and participate in the Equip2Grow program addressing finances, employment, health, and English language proficiency. The ministry demonstrates the love of Jesus by meeting immediate physical needs while connecting neighbors to resources, community, and faith for a purpose-fulfilling future.
