Saint Asaph's Episcopal Church in Bowling Green, Virginia, has deep roots in American colonial history, tracing its lineage back to Charles River Parish, founded in 1618. Formally established in 1780 during the Revolutionary War era, the parish was named after the Bishop of St. Asaph's in Wales, John Shipley, who sympathized with the American cause. The current brick and slate building, which seats one hundred people and features native oak interior trim, was dedicated in 1954 and consecrated in 1970. Under the leadership of The Rev. Denise Bennett as Priest-in-Charge, St. Asaph's serves its community through spiritual worship and active outreach, including support for Angel Food Ministry, which provides food assistance and health items to those in need. The church welcomes visitors to experience its rich heritage and contemporary ministry.
