About Grace Episcopal Church

Grace Episcopal Church is a historic Episcopal congregation in Bremo Bluff with a long record of worship in the community. The Parish House/Chapel was originally built in 1835 by General John Hartwell Cocke as a chapel for enslaved persons on the Bremo plantation. It was later donated to the Bremo Bluff community for church use, moved five miles, and then moved again behind the newer church. The church’s buildings are listed in both the National and Virginia Registers of Historic Buildings. Grace has celebrated 100 years of worship in the current church and 140 years in Bremo.
