About Chesapeake Christian Center
Chesapeake Christian Center is a non-denominational church founded in 1992 by Dr. Marvin L. Duke with a mission to seek and save the lost through God's Word, faith, and love. The church has grown from humble beginnings in a hotel meeting room to a multi-million dollar sanctuary in the heart of Chesapeake's inner city, dedicated in 2000. Led by Lead Pastor Sherman O. Blake-Marlow since September 2024, the church emphasizes practical application of Scripture to everyday life and offers ministries for all ages, including Next Generation 4 Christ programs for infants through youth. The congregation describes itself as a very friendly, welcoming community where visitors will sense the joy found in relationships with Christ. Beyond Sunday worship and Wednesday Bible study, Chesapeake Christian Center actively serves the South Norfolk community through initiatives like monthly food distributions and community events organized through Hope for Sono LLC.
