About Sikh Foundation Of Virginia
The Sikh Foundation of Virginia, located in Fairfax Station, is the oldest gurdwara established in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Founded in 1978 by a small group of Punjabi families who previously traveled to neighboring states for worship, the organization purchased land in 1981 and inaugurated its present Gurdwara Sahib on Baisakhi day in 1989. The community has grown significantly since its inception, prompting several renovations and expansions to accommodate increasing membership. The gurdwara serves the religious, spiritual, and cultural needs of the Northern Virginia Sikh community through regular diwans, kirtan seva, and langar (communal meals). Led by Head Granthi Bhai Satpal Singh Ji and supported by accomplished musicians and scholars, the Sikh Foundation of Virginia continues its mission of spiritual service and community fellowship.
